People Irk Me

I was at Rosa's for lunch and the girl gave us our order and we asked for 4 more hot sauce. She gave me 3 because there was already one in the bag.

Me: could I have one more because there are 5 of us.
Worker Girl: I can only give 4.
Me: there are 5 of us and we all go to different offices when we get back which will make it hard to share - could I please have one more?
Worker girl rolls her eyes, reaches over and gives me one more and when she does she says "I guess I will just get in trouble" and then she shuts the drive thru window.

So I sat there and waved my hand and when she opened the window back up.
Me: is that your manager behind you?
Worker girl: yes
Me: can I speak with him for just a sec

So he comes to the window and
Me: I just wanted to tell you not to get her in trouble for giving me 5 hot sauces it is just that we have 5 people so I really needed them. And I wanted to make sure she did not get in trouble because I made her do it and when she gave me the fifth hot sauce she told me it would get her into trouble and I felt bad.

of course, Manager said: oh no she won't be in trouble it is no problem.
Me: thank you

and we drove away and I said to Holle, Shelli, Debbie and Sarah - "but now she will be in trouble!" HEHEHEHE

Of course this is after our visit to Kohl's where the salesgirl rang up 4 of my 6 items and then applied my $10 gift card. Then she realized I had two more items. She could not get them to add to my original total so I said I will just pay for this one and then you can ring the other two things up and I will pay for them. She said - oh no she needed to void that and ring the whole thing over so I would get my whole $10 off. I did not have the time nor the inclination to explain to her that $10 was $10 regardless of how much my purchase was - I was not going to save anymore.

Big Changes

So, last week on Thursday, I interviewed for a new job. The job is teaching on the college level. It is at a technical college and I would be teaching Accounting, Computer Applications, Microsoft Office. Friday, they called and offered me the job. Monday morning I started teaching. I love it so far. As a matter of fact, I am in class right now and my students are working on their assignments.

Monday night at 8:00p, Sam promoted to Lieutenant at the fire department. He will now be in charge of his own crew. More money, but unfortunately for Sam, more paperwork.

The kids went back to school on Monday. Mason to 5th grade and Morgan to 3rd.

It has been an exciting week!

Mason's Nightmare

So Mason woke up this morning crying because he had a bad dream. In his dream, he was at school. Cruella DeVil was the principal and he and two of his friends were in trouble. There was only one teacher who knew they did not do anything wrong. So he left school to come home to find me but he could not find the street he knew in front of school. He was lost and he was scared.

I hugged him and calmed him down when he got up but I almost laughed because it is a little funny.

More pictures

These pictures were taken at about noon. Fortunately the water went down about 2 to 3 inches overnight. However, there is a bunch more water coming through town right now and should start flowing into the lake in a couple of hours and crest in 3 to 4 hours. Some pictures are of Royce and Donna's back yard and dock. The water is about 2-1/2 to 3 ft. from being in our house. Royce's house is higher than our's so they should be okay. They are evacuating a whole lot of the northwest side of town as I type.

Wednesday

Yes, that is about all the excitement I can muster for today.

Sam is back form the Firefighter Olympics. He got a bronze medal with his partner in Doubles Bowling for their class. He was proud. He had a great time. He ate at my favorite places, Pappadeaux's and Jack in the Box. He went shopping at Bass Pro. What more could he need?

Morgan has her last dance class of the summer today. She will be trying out for a role in the Nutcracker in August. I am so proud of her, even if she does not get it, which happens more often than not the first year they are able to try out.

Mason is into playing Zoo Tycoon. He loves to design his zoo and care for his animals. He can't get enough.

Finished the bathroom and I will try to take photos tonight to post for everyone.

New Bathroom

While my mom was here, we bought stuff toredo the girls bathroom in our house. Last night, I got motivated and took down the old wallpaper and started the project. As soon as I get it painted and the new border put up I will post some pictures. Stay tuned.

New Design

I love having my own blog fairy! I say - "I really want my blog to be red" and poof! - it is red!

Not much going on here. Busy at work. Watching my favorite summer show "The Closer". Kyra Sedgwick is great, as is the whole cast.

Finally went to see Pirates this weekend and we loved it. I was not sure that Morgan was going to make it at the beginning because she thought it might be scary but she did. And she ended up loving it.

Mason cracked us up again the other day. He went to his Mema's house to get his toys and when he came back he walked into the kitchen and said "Morgan, do you have room to believe anything else?" We about died. She said yes and he proceeded with "then you should believe you have a good brother because I brought home your stuff from Mema's, too". Where did he come from?

I am starting to read Sue Grafton's alphabet mysteries. I have read the first one and I have the next two. I cannot wait to read them all. I love series.

Sam leaves Sunday to go bowling in Dallas for the annual firefighter olympics. Royce and Donna are leaving Friday to go to Colorado for a week. That's about all that is new here.

The BLOG FAIRY has visited this site and put in a new design....hope everyone likes it.

MASONISM

We are driving home from dinner tonight and talking about rhyming words. Everyone is throwing out really hard words to try and rhyme, like chocolate and purple. So I say "what rhymes with Uranus?" and Mason says "how about paradeus?"

"What does that mean?" I ask.

Mason says . . . wait for it . . .

"I think it is latin for parade."

I cracked up. I told him I would have to run home and pull out my latin dictionary and check it out.

OMG! The Masonism is back.

5 more days of school

Mason and Morgan only have 5 more days of school. So, what am I doing? you ask. MAKING TEACHER GIFTS!!! Frantically.

I am making Morgans teachers photo albums with a picture of each kid and then a note or drawing each kid made for them. And she has three teachers.

For Mason's teacher, I am giving her a keychain, a gift card to Books-A-Million, and a clothespin memo holder (a great idea I got at QKU last year from Heather).

I will post pictures of the finished products when I can.

After the big graduation trips this weekend I will be cleaning my house like a mad woman because my mommy is coming to visit for a week. (YAY!) She retired from her job at the dentist's office and she is coming to Texas for a visit. I cannot wait. I took two days off while she is here so we have a 4-day weekend together. And she will be here for Morgan's dance recital which will be awesome because she has never seen her dance in person - only on video. Morgan is excited about that, too.

We went to see Shrek the Third this weekend while my sister was here for her birthday. It was really cute and we had a great time with Aunt Tracy as usual.

Anywho, I am at work, so I better get back to it.

PS for those who asked about the grades - "E" means excellent. Then you would have S - Satisfactory Progress, L - Limited Progress, and U - Unsatisfactory Progress.

Dance, School, Housework, OH MY!

Yes, that is all I have been doing. Morgan has been getting ready for her recital. Mason is busy with school. I had my carpets cleaned so lots of furniture moving and housecleaning.

Sam and I are going to be travelling in just a couple weeks all across Texas for graduations. Justin and Melissa both graduate this year about 7 hours apart. EEK! Lots of driving for Sam.

Check back soon for some pictures.

FRAUD - Pet Peeve Alert

Last week our bank issued new debit cards from a new processing company. Since that time we have received at least one call a day verifying our credit card transactions. A lot of them are online transactions that we do monthly. So Friday, our blockbuster online transaction came through and they called to see if it was fraud. I said no, that is a legitimate charge. She said OK.

Fast forward to Sunday night when Sam went to Wal-mart to get gas in his truck and they declined his card. Needless to say, he was pissed.

So after twenty minutes on the phone this morning, they had forgotten to release our card.

I want to know how long we have to go through this. If they put a hold on my card every time I make an online purchase I am going to be mad. Internet shopping is just a way of life.

Kids Cost Too Damn Much

So, last night at dance I had to pay for Morgan's costumes. TOO MUCH! The three costumes totalled $169. Can you believe that? Plus the $80/month I pay for dance classes. Mason's birthday is this weekend and he is having a bowling party. $75 for the bowling alley. Plus cake and party favors, etc.

Speaking of Mason's party, I gave him 24 invites to take to school. He has 17 kids in his class, not counting him, and he invited them all. Then I told him he could use a couple of the extras for friends not in his class this year. I told him he did not have to give them all out. Well, when I talked to him Friday and asked about his invitations, he had give out all but 1. I said who did you give the extras to? Jenna, Julia, and Kane. I said that is only three, where did the other three go? He said "I gave them to Jenna and Julia's friends because they were standing with them." How do you get mad at that? He was trying not to hurt anyone's feelings. What a kid!

Friday night I went to a scrapbook sleepover at a local hotel. We scrapped from 6p Fri to 6p Sat. I got so much done. It was great!

Another busy week with the party and Easter coming up. I will blog about them later.

Busy, Busy

So, last week at work I bacame partof a committee to select the architect for a renovation job we are about to do. Can I just tell you that is was so fun? We spent about 3 hrs going over sales pitches from different firms about why they should design our remodel. Then we went and toured the library at ACU. It was awesome. Their main floor is like an internet cafe and now it has me totally psyched to do something equally modern and innovative in our remodel. Tomorrow I will be in presentations all day from the four architects we narrowed down to and we will have to choose only one. The whole process is fascinating!

Morgan is still busy dancing everyday, gearing up for her recital in June. Mason is not involved in anything right now but reading and playing. Sam is totally engrossed in everything fishing. He is a one-track mind kind of guy. He leaves to go fishing again for 3 days in April.

I have also been busy teaching etiquette classes here at work. They have been a lot of fun and later in April I will be going to a convention in Austin. It seems like things just keep piling on but it is so much fun I just don't mind.

You know most people work all of their lives to make a living and I cannot tell you much better it is to work because you love your job.

Anyway, see you later!!

Sam is home; Mason is not

Well, Sam got home from fishing late last night. He had a blast and I think he would have stayed another week if he could have gotten away with it. He took a ton of pictures of the fishermen, including my favorite, Mike Iaconelli. I will post some cute pictures later, when I can tear the laptop away from Sam.

Mason left this afternoon to go to Six Flags with his friend Kane. He is sure to have a good time. I think they are planning to go to the Museum of Natural History as well.

I am working for my Spring Break, yeeha!

Morgan's Program

Here is a cute little picture of Morgan and her friend Casey in the Children Around the World program from school last night. I know it is a little blurry but those pics in the cafeteria with the weird lighting are never very good.

This is a picture of Morgan playing some instrument I cannot spell. It sounds like glockenschpiel?? But who knows?

Do Not Be Alarmed

I know two posts from me in one day is rather shocking, but contain yourselves. Mason got glasses and I wanted to post a cute pic of him in his new glasses. He picked his glasses out all by himself. The first pair he picked were John Deere frames that had green arms but we managed to talk him into these more practical bronze colored frames. I think he looks perfect (but I am his Mom). Morgan has a program tonight so maybe I will post those pics later this week.

Back to Blogging

I am going to commit to blogging at least once a week from this point forward. (we'll see how that works out)

Sam is gone fishing at Lake Amistad on the border of Texas and Mexico. He is bass fishing in a Union tournament with guys from all over the state. Then at the end of the week there is a professional bass fisherman's tournament that he is going to hang around for. Our friends Baye and Mary live there and so he will be spending time with them also.

Mason just wrapped up basketball season. His awards ceremony was last night. I will post pictures as soon as I get them from Mema.

Morgan is busy with dance. She is taking ballet, tap, and jazz. They are really gearing up for recital time which is the first weekend in June.

I am still busy scrapbooking and stamping and reading.

Hugs to all and thanks for checking back so often.
